The Cabildo

The Cabildo is one of the most historically significant buildings in America. Built between 1795 and 1799, the Cabildo served as the seat of government in New Orleans during the Spanish colonial period, as home American court case Plessy v. Ferguson and the location where the Louisiana Purchase was signed in 1803. Today, the Cabildo remains in the historic French Quarter, housing thousands of artifacts and original works of art.
