East Broad Top Railroad
The narrow gauge of the east is back! 150 years ago THIS YEAR, the East Broad Top was among the earliest railroads in America to try a revolutionary new technology: narrow gauge. Today it is the oldest narrow-gauge railroad anywhere in the United States and the last original narrow gauge railroad east of the Rocky Mountains. Nestled in the heart of Central Pennsylvania, the railroad stands as a monument to early railroading and our industrial heritage. The East Broad Top is a delightful family destination offering a variety of vintage experiences including...One hour scenic train rides through rolling hills, forests and farms along the original East Broad Top mainline aboard historic train cars. Immersive guided tours of the railroad's remarkably intact 20th Century belt-driven machine shop complex, roundhouse and railyard. Themed special events such as Easter on the Rails, Antique Power Shows and a Christmas in Coal Country. While we always recommend advance reservations online, if space is available on the date of departure, tickets are always available in the Orbisonia Station. If you wish to purchase at the ticket window, we recommend arriving no later than 1/2 hour prior to the train’s departure.
