Canandaigua Boathouses

Canandaigua, NY

The Canandaigua City Pier Boathouses are one of the most recognizable and beloved sights along Canandaigua Lake. Lined along the city pier, these charming wooden structures provide a picturesque glimpse into the region’s lakeside heritage and continue to draw artists, photographers, and visitors from across the Finger Lakes. With their rustic character and vibrant colors, the boathouses have become a favorite subject for painters and photographers, and today they remain one of Canandaigua’s most popular attractions. Strolling along the pier offers sweeping views of the lake while showcasing these historic structures that have stood as part of the community’s waterfront identity for generations. Thanks to the efforts of the Boathouse Owners Association, this area was preserved and added to Canandaigua’s Historic District, protecting these iconic structures for future generations. While visiting the pier, be sure to stop at The Pier Market, a lakeside shop offering gifts, artwork, apparel, live bait, kids’ toys, and unique merchandise from Finger Lakes vendors—perfect for finding a local souvenir.
