This concert features the balanced and nuanced phrases of OSM composer-in-residence Jimmy López; the contemplative warmth and expansive clarinet writing of Brahms; the interwoven musical lines of Schoenberg’s Weihnachtsmusik which reveal the beloved Christmas hymns Lo How a Rose and Silent Night; and finally Schoenberg’s surprising arrangement of the Emperor Waltz an imaginative work filled with rich sonorities.Co-produced with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal
